She's Dead
by Diana Oboler

"How is she doctor?"
He couldnt decide
To tell them the truth?
Or tell them she'd died?

"I'm afraid she's dead,"
He said.

Oh, the weeping and wailing,
The crying and tears
That all of their worries
Were just as they'd feared.

"How did she die?!"
They cried.

He talked of her heart,
He talked of her head.
Said that it could be
The food shed been fed.

"That's why she's dead,"
He said.

Soon, they all went away
Weary and sad
Talking about
The life she once had.

"It's too bad she died,"
They sighed.

Then the doc went to work,
And he brought her around.
When her eyes didn't open
He started to frown.

"I know you're not dead,"
He said.

"I'll give you some tests,"
Ones that won't lie,
And soon I will know
Why you didn't die."

But you'll wish you were dead,"
He said.

Diana Oboler is a crazy lady who goes to Bard and reads Bot-Man, which is why you should too. Also, she says "duple" disproportionately often. What it means--I don't know! All I know is that I like Chocolate-flavored Sugar Bombs! It's what all the hip cartoon characters eat for breakfast.
